The Story of
Jimmy's Roadhouse

Jimmy’s Roadhouse isn’t just a venue...
...it’s a celebration of music, laughter, and community, founded by Jimmy “Round Man” Kujala in 2017.
Jimmy poured his love of music and people into creating this special space, where independent musicians could share their talents and audiences could experience the magic of live performances up close.
From the scrawled signatures of past performers on the door to the intimate 40-seat setting, every detail of the Roadhouse reflects Jimmy’s passion for music and connection.
Born on June 1, 1954, in Fox, Montana, (just a few miles from Red Lodge) Jimmy was a man whose life revolved around music.
From his first paying gig at the age of nine at the Snag Bar in Red Lodge to decades spent playing with bands like Billy Waldo and the Flying Grizzlies, The Hound Dogs, with his son, Levi or his trio, Big Jim and the Twins, Jimmy was a storyteller, a music maker, and a joy-bringer.
His life adventures were as colorful as his music career—whether wheeling and dealing cars as “The Round Man With the Square Deal,” cooking up new business ideas, or cracking jokes.
If he’d been paid a nickel for every laugh he caused, he’d have been a millionaire many times over. (And if we had a quarter for every time he used this saying WE would be millionaires!)
In the last decade of his life, Jimmy found a new passion: creating spaces for independent musicians to thrive.
Through his internet radio station and the intimate music venue he ran with his wife, Lauri, and his friend, Greg Creasy, he gave countless artists a platform to share their talents.
After Jimmy’s passing, Lauri and Greg wanted to keep his dream alive. Together, they now run Jimmy’s Roadhouse, continuing his vision of a welcoming space for live music.
Jimmy’s Roadhouse is more than a house concert venue in a converted garage—it’s a tribute to a life well-lived.
Every performance here is a nod to Jimmy’s humor, his love for independent music, and his belief in the power of connection.
We hope you’ll feel his spirit in every note played and every story shared.
Thank you for being part of this community that Jimmy so deeply cherished. Whether you’re here for the music, the memories, or the magic, you’re always welcome at Jimmy’s Roadhouse.
With love,
The Jimmy’s Roadhouse Family
